Season 1: A kidnapping puts Slough House in MI5’s sights
River Cartwright is sent to Slough House after a failed MI5 training exercise. There, he joins Sid Baker and the other agents assigned to Lamb’s department. When a kidnapping sets off a dangerous chain of events, the Slow Horses try to find the kidnappers and locate Hassan, while MI5’s Diana Taverner sends the Dogs after Lamb and his team. The crisis becomes a test of whether the sidelined agents can uncover what is happening as the agency’s leadership tries to manage its own exposure.

Season 2: A suspicious death revives Cold War secrets
Season two turns from a kidnapping to the consequences of espionage buried in the past. A suspicious death draws attention to old Cold War history, and secrets that might have stayed dormant threaten to bring carnage to London. The season adapts Mick Herron’s Dead Lions; the publisher’s Slough House series page identifies Dickie Bow, an old Cold War-era spy found dead on a bus outside Oxford, as the novel’s starting point.

Season 3: An Istanbul connection exposes a secret inside MI5
In season three, a romantic liaison in Istanbul threatens to expose a buried secret in London. Lamb and the Slow Horses are drawn into a conspiracy that endangers Slough House and MI5 itself. The season adapts Real Tigers, the third Slough House novel. Apple identifies Sean Donovan as a former head of security at the British embassy in Istanbul and Alison Dunn as an MI5 agent who uncovers a secret at the agency’s heart; the official series page lists the season’s characters and premise.

Each season gives the agents a different espionage crisis, while the team and its relationships carry across the stories. The threat shifts from a kidnapping entangled with MI5 leadership, to Cold War history returning as a danger in London, to an Istanbul connection that threatens to reveal a secret within the agency. Lamb’s misanthropic brilliance and the team’s uneasy cohesion anchor those changing plots.
The first three seasons each contain six episodes. Apple announced season one’s global launch for April 1, 2022, season two’s debut for December 2, 2022, and season three’s premiere for December 1, 2023, with weekly releases through December 29, 2023.
