Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson was hospitalized on August 23, 2024, after an explosion at a burn pile on his Iowa farm left him with serious burns to his face and arms. Wilson later said he had added gasoline to the pile’s remnants before lighting them. The reports describe his condition and plans at the time; they do not establish his current health.
What happened to Sid Wilson?
On August 23, 2024, Wilson posted a video from the hospital saying he had suffered serious burns to his face and arms in an explosion at a burn pile on his farm in Iowa. He said doctors were checking him for a possible inhalation injury. RTÉ reported his hospital statement and injuries.
How did the burn-pile explosion happen?
Wilson gave a fuller account in an interview reported by the Los Angeles Times on August 28, 2024. He said he had lit a wood burn pile the previous night, returned to find debris, added gasoline, then leaned in and lit it. The pile exploded. That sequence is Wilson’s account, rather than a separately established explanation of the explosion.
Wilson later warned, “Don’t f— around with fire. It’s going to win every time,” as quoted by the Los Angeles Times.

What did Slipknot say about his injuries and plans?
In a statement reproduced by Sky News on August 24, 2024, Slipknot said Wilson had sustained burns across his body and was recovering with his family. The band said he planned to join them at Rocklahoma the following weekend. That was an update and plan for the immediate aftermath, not confirmation of his present health or schedule.
