The Independent reported that Cowell and Silverman first met at a resort in Barbados in 2004. Silverman was married to Andrew Silverman at the time. This is a reported meeting, not evidence that Cowell and Lauren began dating that year.
2013: Their relationship becomes public
News of Silverman’s pregnancy broke at the end of July 2013, bringing the relationship into public view. She was still married to Andrew Silverman, whom reporting described as Cowell’s friend. The Independent dates the start of Cowell and Lauren’s relationship to 2013; Cowell’s later account described an on-and-off affair over several years. The sources do not establish a single, precise private start date.
The pregnancy coverage came amid reporting on the Silvermans’ divorce. The available accounts establish the marital context, but not verified filing or finalization dates.

In a 2014 interview, Cowell said, “I regret that part,” and added, “It is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone.” He was referring to the circumstances and the hurt involved, not to the birth of his son.
14 February 2014: Their son Eric is born
Eric was born on 14 February 2014. In the 2014 interview, Cowell said his son was named after Cowell’s late father.

2018: Cowell publicly praises Silverman
At his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Cowell called Silverman his “rock for the past few years,” adding, “put up with everything I put up with,” according to The Independent’s report of his remarks.
Christmas Eve 2021: Cowell proposes in Barbados
Cowell proposed during a family holiday in Barbados on Christmas Eve 2021, according to reports published in January 2022. Their son Eric and Silverman’s older son Adam were reportedly present. Cowell later told Entertainment Tonight that Eric helped coach him and was a big part of the proposal.

In a joint interview reported in July 2024, Cowell said, “Every decision I make now I am thinking about Eric. Is it the right decision for him?” Silverman said she had helped Cowell find more balance. The account was reproduced by Just Simon Cowell.
December 2025: Latest located report says they were not married
TV Insider reported on 9 December 2025 that Cowell and Silverman had not married, attributing the confirmation to You Magazine. The report also noted Silverman’s surname change, which by itself does not establish that a marriage took place. This is the latest located account, not a verified update for October 2026.
