The six-episode Kannada thriller has a hook built for suspicion, but published reviews differ on whether its interrogation scenes and performances make up for turns that can feel familiar and a resolution that may disappoint.
What is Shodha about?
Lawyer Rohit—spelled “Rohith” in ZEE5’s listing—searches for his missing wife, Meera. After an accident, a woman identifies herself as Meera, but Rohit rejects her claim and says she is not his wife. That reversal turns a missing-person case into a question of identity, memory and trust: is the woman who she says she is, and what explains Rohit’s refusal to accept her?
The premise is best approached without knowing more. Its tension depends on weighing competing accounts rather than being told early which one to believe.
How well does the thriller work?
The reviews agree that the case is intriguing, but not on how successfully the series develops it. India Today’s 29 August 2025 review argues that predictable twists and shallow answers weaken the mystery, particularly by the time it reaches its resolution. Scroll.in’s published headline also describes the series as predictable, though the available details do not support drawing further conclusions from that review.
#1 Best Overall
- 6-Movie Mystery Collection – A must-have for mystery lovers, featuring suspenseful investigations, shocking twists, and engaging storytelling.
- Region 1 DVD | 9 Hours | Closed Captioning | 1.33:1 – Compatible with US/Canada players.
Cinema Express, reviewing the series on 31 August 2025, is more appreciative of its legal-suspense setup. It highlights the interrogation-room tension and the ensemble performances, while conceding that some turns verge on predictability and that the emotional depth is uneven. Taken together, the criticism points to a useful distinction: Shodha can hold interest through suspicion and questioning even if viewers guess some developments or want more from the answers.
Do the performances and family stakes carry it?
Pawan Kumar plays Rohit/Rohith, and Siri Ravikumar plays Meera. Arun Sagar and Anusha Ranganath are also among the named cast; India Today identifies Diya Hegde as Tara, the couple’s daughter. Cinema Express finds the performances and interrogation scenes effective, while India Today’s broader assessment is considerably less positive about the show’s execution. The difference matters: viewers drawn to tense face-to-face questioning may find more to appreciate than viewers primarily seeking a carefully layered family drama.

The setup raises intimate stakes—whether a husband trusts his own recognition and what a disputed identity means for a family—but the reviews suggest that emotional development does not always match the premise’s potential. That is a more material caveat than the show’s short episode count: the question is not only whether the mystery moves, but whether its answers deepen the relationships at its center.
Who is Shodha for?
- Consider it if you like domestic psychological mysteries, disputed identities and interrogation scenes that sustain uncertainty.
- Temper expectations if you want every twist to be difficult to anticipate or a resolution that fully rewards the setup; India Today is sharply critical of the answers, and Cinema Express also notes familiar turns.
- Keep the adaptation context in mind: India Today reports that Shodha remakes the Hindi series Khoj – Parchaiyo Ke Uss Paar, with plot changes by writer Suhas Navarathna and input from Pawan Kumar. This adaptation detail is reported by that outlet, rather than confirmed here through an official production statement.
Who made it, and where can you watch?
