In the December 6, 2023 premiere of her podcast Let’s Be Clear, she also alleged that her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, had been having an affair for two years. That allegation is her account, not an independently established finding.
What Doherty said happened before surgery
On the premiere episode of Let’s Be Clear, Doherty described facing brain surgery while also dealing with the collapse of her marriage. She said doctors discovered in the first week of January 2023 that her breast cancer had spread to her brain. According to her account, a tumor was large enough to remove, and doctors wanted to examine it to better understand what was happening and guide treatment.
Doherty described the timing in her own words: “I went into that surgery early in the morning, and I went in after I found out that, you know, my marriage was essentially over, that my husband had been carrying on an affair for two years.” The statement was her allegation about Iswarienko’s conduct and the circumstances surrounding the surgery.
What is known about the diagnosis and surgery timeline
- First week of January 2023: Doherty said doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to her brain.
- January 2023: She said she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. The relevant podcast passage does not establish the precise date of the operation.
- December 6, 2023: Doherty discussed the diagnosis, surgery and marital breakdown on the premiere episode of Let’s Be Clear.
The date Doherty gave for the discovery of brain metastasis should not be mistaken for a confirmed surgery date: her account places the operation in January but does not identify a specific day.

How the couple’s accounts differed
On December 12, 2023, TMZ reported a counteraccount from unnamed sources close to Iswarienko. According to the report, those sources said the couple had been living separate lives and that Iswarienko had been upfront about a new relationship. TMZ also reported that Doherty rejected that account. These are competing accounts reported by TMZ, not findings established by a court.
TMZ reported in April 2023 that Doherty had filed for divorce; that filing date is based on secondary reporting rather than a reviewed court record. The later dispute coverage underscores that the couple’s descriptions of their separation and the timing of the new relationship were not the same.
