Shakira stepped down from the stage at LIV Miami on September 14, 2024, after a brief dance during an appearance tied to her song “Soltera.” Although a viral clip was interpreted as showing an attendee filming under her skirt, representatives said the person recording was part of Shakira’s team. The reviewed reports do not independently confirm who held the camera or what that person intended.
What happened at LIV Miami
The appearance took place at LIV nightclub inside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The Miami Herald reported that “Soltera” began playing, Shakira got onstage and danced, gestured toward someone in the crowd, adjusted her hem, and stepped down. The Herald described the moment as spontaneous, not a scheduled concert performance. Noticias Caracol also placed the appearance on September 14 and said the event included content recording related to “Soltera.”
Why did people think someone was filming under her skirt?
In the circulating clip, Shakira’s gestures and adjustment of her hem prompted online posts and headlines to suggest that a person in the audience was filming beneath her skirt. The video shows the movement that fueled that interpretation, but it does not by itself establish what Shakira meant by her gestures or identify the person holding the camera.
What did representatives say?
The Miami Herald quoted a club representative saying the person filming was part of Shakira’s team, and that Shakira was asking the team to lower its cameras so guests could enjoy the moment. N+ separately reported that Sofía Bukele, identified as director of Hispanic and Latam Media Relations, gave the same explanation: a team member was recording content of Shakira’s appearance. N+ also said Shakira asked fans to put their phones away and be present. Noticias Caracol relayed the representative’s account as well.
