Seven Samurai’s 4K restoration has had theatrical runs in several countries, but not on one worldwide schedule. The documented dates are in the UK in 2024, the Netherlands in 2025, and Japan from October to November 2025; these listings do not establish a new 2026 opening.
When and where has the 4K restoration screened?
The dates vary by territory and exhibitor. The confirmed runs are historical listings, so check local cinemas for any current or future screenings.

What film is being shown?
Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai is a 1954 Japanese film about a sixteenth-century village that hires samurai to defend it from bandits. BFI lists the film at 200 minutes and identifies its presentation as a 4K restoration; that runtime and format are BFI’s release listing, not a confirmed universal specification for every territory. #1 Best Overall
Is there a 4K UHD or Blu-ray release?
Yes. BFI listed a 4K UHD / Blu-ray release for 18 November 2024 in the UK. That listing confirms the format and historical release date, but not current stock, retailer availability, or the availability of a particular edition. BFI listing

The cited release materials call the presentation a “4K restoration” or “new 4K remaster,” but do not identify the source elements, scanning or restoration workflow, or restoration facility. They therefore do not support more specific claims about how the version was made.
