In a statement dated April 6, 2022, Damian Williams, then U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said: “Twelve years ago, Larry Ray moved into his daughter’s dorm room at Sarah Lawrence College. And when he got there, he met a group of friends who had their whole lives ahead of them.” This was a prosecutor’s characterization, not dialogue from the movie. The DOJ’s verdict statement records it.

How to approach the film
- Use the movie to identify Lifetime’s dramatization of the case, not as a substitute for court records.
- For the conviction and sentence, rely on the DOJ’s case announcements rather than treating a scene or network synopsis as a finding of fact.
- Do not infer that Sarah Lawrence College produced or endorsed the film; the available sources identify it as a Lifetime movie.
