Hannity met Rhodes in Huntsville, Alabama, where he worked in radio and Rhodes was a newspaper columnist. The separation happened privately, years earlier
When news of the divorce became public in June 2020, reports said the couple had separated years earlier. Their joint statement said, “Amicable agreements were entered into over four years ago between Sean and Jill.” That wording refers to agreements, not a precise separation date; the reports did not establish when they split. June 2020 coverage said the divorce had been finalized more than a year before the announcement, placing it in 2019. The distinction matters: the public learned about the divorce in 2020, but the legal process had concluded earlier.

In a joint statement reproduced by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Just Jared, Hannity and Rhodes said they were committed to their children’s best interests and maintained a close relationship as parents. They also asked for privacy, saying neither would comment further. The statement described their approach as parents; it did not give private reasons for the separation.
