Margot Robbie said Martin Scorsese offered her the option of wearing a robe for her full-frontal scene in The Wolf of Wall Street. She declined because she felt Naomi would choose to appear naked in that moment: “The whole point is that she’s going to come out completely naked—that’s the card she’s playing right now.”
Why did Margot Robbie turn down the robe?
Robbie’s explanation was about Naomi’s intention, not a demand from the director. In her reported account, the robe was offered as an alternative if she felt uncomfortable. Robbie said Naomi would not wear it in that scene, telling Scorsese: “That’s not what she would do in that scene.”

She described the reveal as “the card she’s playing right now”: Naomi’s choice to come out naked was part of how Robbie understood the character’s approach in that moment. Robbie discussed the exchange during an appearance on the Talking Pictures podcast, according to reports by NME and E! News.
Was the nude scene Robbie’s decision?
In Robbie’s telling, she chose not to use the robe because she believed it did not fit Naomi’s behavior in the scene. That is different from saying Scorsese required her to be nude: the reports characterize his comment as an offer of an alternative, with Robbie making her choice based on her reading of the character.
