Hoodville, a photography business in Subiaco, was presented as a smaller-setting alternative to busy shopping-centre Santa photos. In a report published on 6 December 2024, PerthNow described a 10-minute session for $100, with three Christmas settings and a digital gallery of 10 edited images. Those were the reported terms for that season—not a confirmed offer for 2026—and the story did not measure whether the experience was quieter or less stressful.
What Hoodville’s Santa-photo offer included
PerthNow reported that Hoodville creative director and photographer Thom Davidson offered the seasonal portrait sessions at the Subiaco business. The report described the package as follows:
- Session: 10 minutes with Santa.
- Price: $100, according to the 2024 report.
- Setting: A choice of three Christmas backdrops.
- Images: A digital gallery of 10 edited photographs, which Davidson said would be emailed within 48 hours.
- Prints: Customers could also have photographs printed by the Hoodville team.
Davidson described the setup as featuring “twinkling lights and festive decor” and said it was intended for family portraits and photos with furry friends. The package details and descriptions are Hoodville’s claims as quoted by PerthNow, not independent confirmation of image quality or delivery performance. The report did not specify print prices or formats.
Why it was pitched as an alternative
The appeal was the possibility of a more intimate portrait setting than the busy trip often associated with mall Santa visits—finding parking, moving through shopping crowds, and managing children and shopping bags. PerthNow framed Hoodville’s offer as a way to avoid some of that friction. It did not publish comparative queue times, crowd levels, noise measurements, or customer feedback establishing that Hoodville was calmer or faster.

That distinction matters: the offer provides a different setting and a short, defined session, but the available account does not prove how the experience compares on a particular day. Anyone deciding on the basis of crowding or sensory needs would need to ask the venue directly about the current setup.
