PerthNow’s gallery, published the next day, put her at the top of its worst-dressed list and named Sarah Snook alongside her; that placement was the outlet’s fashion opinion, not an official award or an objective consensus.
What Selena Gomez wore to the 2024 Golden Globes
The Associated Press described Gomez’s gown as red, with an asymmetrical hemline that began above the knee. The List offered more detail, describing a short red dress with floral appliqués, cutouts and an asymmetrical design. These descriptions establish the color and broad silhouette, while the more specific details come from The List’s account.
Red was also a visible color elsewhere on the carpet. AP quoted People editorial director Andrea Lavinthal saying, “I love how every carpet, one color sort of pops. We’ve had a lot of yellow and pink but red is such a classic red carpet color.”
Why PerthNow put Gomez at the top of its worst-dressed list
PerthNow’s January 8, 2024 headline called Gomez’s dress “silly” and “puffy,” placing her at the top of its worst-dressed gallery. Its captions criticized the looks featured there. “Worst dressed” in this context is PerthNow’s editorial judgment, not a formal Golden Globes category.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The List also criticized Gomez’s look, but its reasoning was about the combination of details: it considered the floral appliqués, cutouts and asymmetry too much together, and suggested a simpler short red dress might have worked better. That is The List’s opinion, distinct from PerthNow’s headline and placement.
Was Sarah Snook on the same list?
Yes. PerthNow named Sarah Snook alongside Gomez in its headline and included her in the gallery. Snook’s appearance on that fashion list was separate from her achievement at the ceremony: TIME reports that she won the television drama actress award for Succession at the 81st Golden Globes.
