September 2024 brought two standout LEGO builds: the Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, LEGO’s first set in The Legend of Zelda line, and a LEGO Ideas model inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas. The original roundup gave them US launch prices of $300 and $200, respectively; those are historical 2024 prices, not current offers.
The headline LEGO releases of September 2024
James Whitbrook’s Gizmodo roundup, published August 30, 2024, focused on a pair of display-oriented sets that bring familiar fictional places to life: Hyrule’s Great Deku Tree and locations from Halloween Town. The sets differ in what they recreate and how builders can display them.
| Set | Franchise and setting | Build and figures | 2024 launch timing | Original US price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 | The Legend of Zelda: versions of the Great Deku Tree associated with Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild | Build one of two alternate tree versions at a time; includes Zelda and Link figures representing both games | September 2024; the roundup does not state a specific release day | $300, as reported in the August 30, 2024 roundup |
| LEGO Ideas The Nightmare Before Christmas | Henry Selick’s animated film and Halloween Town | Recreates notable locations in the film’s stylized look; includes multiple minifigures, including Sandy Claws | Public release September 6, 2024; LEGO Insiders early access began September 3, 2024 | $200, as reported in the August 30, 2024 roundup |
Great Deku Tree 2-in-1: two versions, one build at a time
The Great Deku Tree set offered a choice between two recognizable interpretations of the tree: the version associated with Ocarina of Time and the one from Breath of the Wild, where the tree guards the Master Sword. “2-in-1” means the model can be assembled in either configuration; it does not mean both versions can be displayed at once from a single build.
The included figures extend the choice across the games: Zelda and Link figures represent both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. The roundup listed a US launch price of $300 in 2024.
