September 5, 2025 was the U.S. theatrical release date for The Conjuring: Last Rites. The film was described as the final mainline chapter featuring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren—not the confirmed end of every story in the wider Conjuring universe.
What does September 5 mean for horror fans?
The date refers to the U.S. theatrical release of The Conjuring: Last Rites, according to a July 31, 2025 CBR article surfaced in IMDb’s news results. It is a past release date, not an upcoming event. An earlier international date of September 3 was also noted, so September 5 should not be treated as the release date in every territory. What era is ending?
CBR characterized Last Rites as the final chapter for Ed and Lorraine Warren as portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. That makes “end of an era” a description of the Warren-centered mainline film chapter, rather than evidence that the entire franchise has ended. The article left open the possibility of spin-offs; it did not establish what future films will be made.
CBR also called the film the ninth entry in the Conjuring universe. That franchise count and its description of the film as a final Warren chapter are the article’s characterizations, not confirmation of a permanent studio decision to end the universe. The article attributed more than $2 billion in box-office earnings to the franchise, but did not identify an original studio or trade-data source for that estimate.

How to understand the film’s “real events” framing
The film has been promoted as based on real events, a framing repeated in the CBR article. That wording describes the movie’s premise; it is not independent verification of supernatural claims or proof that the events unfolded as depicted on screen.
The Annabelle popcorn bucket was a release-window promotion
CBR reported that Regal and Marcus theaters offered an Annabelle-themed popcorn bucket in the August 2025 release window. This is a past promotion: the report does not establish its price, whether any theater still has stock, or whether it is currently available for purchase.

What the available official pages do—and do not—confirm
Warner Bros.’ campaign page identifies the official film campaign. It does not, by itself, establish current streaming, rental, or retail availability.
Warner Bros.’ digital-copy support page gives general guidance for redeeming codes included with qualifying Blu-ray and UHD releases. It warns that codes may be region-specific and expire. The page does not establish that a particular Last Rites edition includes a code, is currently in stock, or is offered at a particular retailer. Check the specific package and seller details before relying on a code or comparing editions.
