Selena Gomez’s “In the Dark” is a song on Nobody Wants This Season 2: The Soundtrack, and its music video arrived as part of the song’s rollout. The release dates differ by source and event: the artist-channel audio listing says October 23, 2025; Universal Music Japan’s video announcement is dated October 24; and Apple Music lists the single on November 5.
When did “In the Dark” come out?
The dates point to separate release and catalog events rather than one universally stated date. The artist-channel audio listing gives October 23, 2025, while Universal Music Japan’s announcement dated October 24 says the song and video were released. Apple Music catalogs the single with a November 5, 2025 date and lists the video separately. Universal Music Germany also connected the song’s October 23 release with the start of Season 2.
These listings document different kinds of dates—an artist-channel audio listing, a label announcement, and a platform catalog entry. They do not establish that every service or territory made the track available on the same day.
How does the song connect to Nobody Wants This?
“In the Dark” appears on Nobody Wants This Season 2: The Soundtrack. Its use in the series also gives the song a specific dramatic context. In an interview with Rolling Stone, series creator and executive producer Erin Foster said it suited the Season 2 finale scene at Morgan’s engagement party, where Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) hide their pain beneath a brave front: “We knew we needed a song that could hold the weight of that moment — where Joanne [Kristen Bell] and Noah [Adam Brody] are putting on a brave face at Morgan’s engagement party, but underneath they’re falling apart.”

What is the video like?
Gomez described the visual’s intended mood to Rolling Stone while discussing a behind-the-scenes clip: “We’re making it really fun, edgy, and cool, which is what I envision the song to feel like.” Rolling Stone’s account describes Gomez filming in a photo studio, wearing multiple outfits and posing against colorful backdrops as a moving camera followed her. Those are reported glimpses of the shoot, not a complete official production breakdown.

What does the song sound like?
