In an account of the season 3 premiere, Starcasm reported that Garrick introduced the idea and that Dannielle did not want a plural lifestyle when he first brought it up. The Hollywood Gossip also reported that she was initially surprised by his proposal. Starcasm’s May 31, 2021 account and The Hollywood Gossip’s June 3, 2021 report describe what the couple said around the episode’s airing.
Garrick said he did not move forward with courting until Dannielle agreed. That is his stated account of their decision-making; the episode-era reporting does not independently establish the couple’s private discussions.
Why did Dannielle say she changed her mind?
Dannielle said she prayed about the idea and began to view a sister wife as someone who could bring another maternal presence into her children’s lives. Starcasm transcribed her explanation as: “realized bringing a sister wife into mine and Garrick’s relationship means my children gain another mother figure, and I think we all gain a little more love in our lives as well.” The published excerpt begins mid-sentence, so it should be read as an attributed excerpt rather than a complete quotation.

Her explanation was family-centered: she described the potential benefits for her children and the household. The reporting does not establish that this was her only motive or reveal everything she privately felt.
What was Garrick’s religious rationale?
Garrick described his own interpretation of biblical examples as part of his reasoning. Starcasm transcribed him saying that he and Dannielle “believe in the bible,” and that seeing people in the Bible with multiple wives led him to conclude that God was not against the practice. He also said he believed plural marriage was a way to follow Christ and that the couple felt “called to life this way.” Those statements explain Garrick’s stated beliefs; they are not an uncontested Christian teaching.

What happened after the initial decision?
The same 2021 Starcasm account reports that the couple’s courtship of Roberta led them to pursue a legal divorce so Garrick could marry her. The available account does not establish a complete legal or immigration explanation, so those details should not be treated as settled beyond what was reported.
The story continued in later seasons. TLC’s current series page lists season 6 and describes Dannielle’s difficulty making room for Lorrana as the household changes. TLC’s season 6 family gallery also notes earlier heartbreaks involving Roberta and Nathalia before the couple pursued Lorrana. These later developments add context to the show’s evolving family story, but they do not establish Dannielle’s private feelings when Garrick first suggested plural marriage.
