The catalog descriptions of the page count differ: Books.or.jp gives 120 pages, while the NDL calls the book unpaginated. Those are the records’ respective descriptions, not evidence that the book’s contents differ. Books.or.jp listing; NDL New Edition record; Google Books record.
How does it differ from the 1991 original?
The most clearly documented difference is physical format. The original appeared in November 1991; Asahi Press gives its release date as November 13. The NDL catalogs the original at 35 cm, substantially larger than the New Edition’s approximately 20 cm. The New Edition’s A5-variant description is supplied by Books.or.jp.

Does the New Edition contain different photographs?
The available publisher and catalog records do not establish whether the 1999 edition changed the image selection, order, or reproduction from the 1991 original. They support calling it a New Edition and identifying its bibliographic and format details, but not describing it as a revised, complete, or identical reproduction. A claim about image-by-image differences would require evidence beyond those records.

What Asahi Press says about the book
Asahi Press’s description presents the book in promotional language, saying that the subject’s nude body overturns the concept of nude photography and describing her in New Mexico at age 18 as an icon of the era. That is the publisher’s characterization, not an independently verified assessment or a quotation attributed to Shinoyama or Miyazawa. Asahi Press description.
What is known about availability and sales?
Asahi Press currently labels the original-edition page out of stock and says reprinting is undecided. That status concerns the original listed on that page; it does not establish that the 1999 New Edition or second-hand copies are unavailable. Price and stock information can change, and the publisher page’s displayed original-edition price of ¥4,806 including tax should be understood as the page’s listing, not a current used-market valuation.
