Sam and Nia Rader’s account of the Ashley Madison breach is featured in Netflix’s 2024 three-part docuseries Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal. Netflix says Sam had joined the site before the couple became popular family vloggers, and that the public exposure of user data led him to tell Nia about the account. The Raders have described the breach’s effect on their marriage, their reconciliation, and their objection that the series left out context. Those private events are their accounts, not independently verified findings.
What happened to Sam and Nia after the Ashley Madison leak?
Netflix’s account says Sam Rader had signed up for Ashley Madison before the family began vlogging. In 2015, the site suffered a breach that exposed user records. Netflix says the release of data brought Sam’s account to the attention of friends and family, and he then told Nia what he had done. Ashley Madison was marketed as a service for people seeking extramarital affairs, according to Netflix’s background on the series.

Sam later told Netflix that he had not been on a good path when he encountered advertising for the site. Nia said she was surprised he would have been drawn to it because she considered it out of keeping with his usual morals and character. These are the couple’s retrospective descriptions, as presented in Netflix’s May 23, 2024 interview.
How did Nia describe the betrayal?
As summarized by TIME’s May 15, 2024 account of the documentary, Nia said she felt betrayed and infuriated, but decided to forgive Sam at the time. Her reaction belongs to the couple’s account of what followed the disclosure; it should not be reduced to a simple or immediate resolution of the marriage’s difficulties.

Sam told Netflix he was not angry at the company or the hackers: “I’m not angry at Ashley Madison, definitely not angry at the hackers.” Nia, speaking about repairing a marriage, said, “It’s worth fighting to fix your marriage.” Both statements are interview remarks, not independent confirmation of every private detail or a prescription for other couples.

In a 2024 Dallas Observer interview, Nia said, “I think that the documentary left a lot of context out of our story and leaves so much room for imagination,” adding that viewers could imagine things that did not exist. That is her criticism of how the series presented their story, rather than an independent finding about the documentary’s accuracy.
The Raders have also described their Christian faith as central to their reconciliation. Netflix’s interview includes Nia’s appeal for a more candid picture of public life: “Somebody’s got to step up and say, ‘Life is messy and ugly, and we’ve made mistakes and we’ve done things, but there’s still hope out there.’ ” Her comments explain how she framed the couple’s experience; they do not establish a universal outcome for couples dealing with infidelity.
For a fuller version of their own perspective, Netflix noted that the couple self-published a book extending beyond the hack. It is their account, not independent reporting. Netflix referred to the title as Live in Truth; readers should check the current edition and listing before seeking it out.

Netflix reported in May 2024 that the Raders remained together. That is the latest relationship-status statement established by the sources here, and it should be understood as a dated report rather than confirmation of their status in 2026.
