PerthNow reported on 2 January 2024 that Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis were photographed in Fremantle after swimming at a Perth beach with their family dog. The report did not name the beach or specify when the swim took place.
What PerthNow reported
Taylor Renouf’s PerthNow report, published 2 January 2024, said Kerr and Mewis had been photographed in Fremantle after a dip at a Perth beach with their family dog. It described Kerr as a Matildas player raised in Western Australia and Mewis as her American partner. The report said the pair were preparing to return to London.

According to PerthNow, they had arrived in Perth on December 28 and the Fremantle appearance was the third time they had been spotted out since arriving. The report does not establish the beach’s name or the date of the swim, so neither can be identified more precisely.
How the sighting fits the New Year’s Eve coverage
A separate PerthNow report published January 1 said Kerr and Mewis celebrated their engagement with close family and friends at The Raffles Hotel in Applecross on New Year’s Eve. That account also mentioned a beach outing earlier that day. It is distinct from the later Fremantle sighting described in the January 2 report.
#1 Best Overall
- Inspired by the world's largest soccer matchup, the adidas FIFA World Cup 26 soccer ball pairs design with performance. A seamless TSBE surface enhances touch. The butyl bladder ensures consistent shape retention for every match or practice session.
- TSBE TECHNOLOGY: Seamless surface for better touch and lower water uptake
- KEEPS ITS SHAPE: Butyl bladder for best air retention
- REQUIRES INFLATION: Ships flat, pump not included
- FIFA QUALITY AND OFFICIALLY LICENSED: Officially licensed by FIFA, the ball passed FIFA tests on circumference, weight, rebound and water absorption
PerthNow attributed two remarks to Kerr’s short speech at the celebration: “Thanks everyone, we can’t wait for the wedding,” and “It is great to celebrate all of us, family, friends, everyone.” These are quotes as reported by the outlet, rather than independently verified transcript excerpts.
Clothing details belong to the earlier outing
The January 2 story also mentioned Balenciaga slides attributed to Kerr and Versace slides attributed to Mewis during an earlier outing. It gave reported retail prices of $630 and $260 respectively, but did not establish an exact product model. Those figures describe the outlet’s reporting in 2024, not current prices or availability.
