The account is Hayek’s public recollection as reported by those outlets, not an event independently verified in the sources cited here. She summed up its effect on her memory of the area: “Every time I thought about Hollywood Boulevard, this is what I remember.”
Why did she describe the ceremony as healing?
Hayek said the frightening memory had become what came to mind when she thought of Hollywood Boulevard. Receiving a star there offered a new, meaningful experience connected to the same place. Her remarks framed the ceremony as a way to reclaim that association, rather than as a claim that the earlier incident had been independently documented.

She also connected the moment to her affection for filmmaking: “Find something to love, because the one thing that I stayed for was for the love of cinema.” The speech included advice to keep working and preparing, and not to be discouraged by other people—or by one’s own self-doubt.
