Neither account confirms that Saber Interactive is still making it or that production has resumed.
Is the Saber Interactive Avatar RPG canceled?
There is no confirmed cancellation, but there is also no confirmation that the game is actively being made. In a June 2026 interview with IGN, Paramount Games Studio executive Shawn Kittelsen said the RPG “wasn’t in production when we came in,” adding, “So that game was not in production.” The report connected his remarks to the formation of Paramount Games Studio following the Paramount–Skydance merger. Yahoo Gaming’s June 5, 2026 report carried the interview account.
In July 2026, a report attributed a response to Avatar co-creator Bryan Konietzko disputing that the project had been canceled and describing a setback or reformulation. That account does not establish that the game returned to production, that Saber remains attached, or that a new development team has been confirmed. GameVicio’s July 5, 2026 report is the source for that attributed response.
The most accurate status is therefore: the RPG was announced, was reported not to be in production when Paramount Games Studio was established, and was later described by Konietzko as not canceled. Its present production status remains unconfirmed.

What was the Avatar RPG supposed to be?
On October 3, 2024, Saber Interactive and Paramount Game Studios announced an AAA action RPG set in the Avatar Legends universe, in close collaboration with Avatar Studios. The premise centered on a previously unseen Avatar living thousands of years in the past. The announcement said players would master all four elements, fight dynamically alongside companions, and make choices tied to maintaining balance. These were announced intentions, not features shown in released gameplay. Gematsu’s October 3, 2024 report reproduces the announcement.
The announcement presented the game as an opportunity to explore a new period in the franchise’s history rather than retell Aang’s or Korra’s story. It described the setting as part of Avatar Legends, but did not give the game a final title or explain how its story would connect to established canon.

What platforms and release date were announced?
The 2024 announcement said the game was created for PC and consoles, without naming specific console platforms. It gave no release date or window. No verified preorder, gameplay footage, or current development-team information is established by the sources cited here. References to “Ice Wars” are not verified as an official title.

No. Paramount Games Studio introduced Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game on June 18, 2026 as a separate 1v1 fighting game spanning The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. It is not the announced Saber action RPG, and Paramount’s page does not present it as a replacement or update on that RPG. Paramount Games Studio’s introduction describes the fighter and its selected games.
