Ryan Seacrest described seeing the newly built Wheel of Fortune set as “magical,” according to Yahoo’s WJW-syndicated coverage. The refreshed studio arrived with the start of his hosting era in 2024, as the show entered Season 42.
What Ryan Seacrest said about the new set
In the Yahoo/WJW report, Seacrest said, “We have a new set that we just built, and we’ll premiere with this new era,” and described seeing it as “magical.” The word is his reaction, not an independently established assessment of the set.

Why the show refreshed the set
Production designer James Pearse Connelly described the aim as balancing continuity with practical change: preserving the audience’s nostalgic connection to earlier designs while updating the space for future seasons. In the PEOPLE interview reproduced by AOL, he said, “It’s about setting up a new space that fixes problems, prepares for the future and makes people feel comfortable.”
Connelly also acknowledged that viewers may be wary of a familiar show changing its look: “Everybody’s reluctant to change. That’s just normal.” AOL’s September 19, 2024 coverage noted some hesitant fan response, but did not report a measured survey or quantify how many viewers felt that way.

The available reporting supports the timing, Seacrest’s attributed reaction and the designer’s broad goals. It does not provide enough verified detail to describe specific colors, materials, lighting or other visual features. The official Wheel of Fortune homepage continues to feature Seacrest and Vanna White, but it does not, by itself, establish those design details: official show homepage.
