Sam Kerr’s 2023 combined landmark goals, major trophies and a public milestone off the pitch. She proposed to Kristie Mewis, reached 50 Women’s Super League goals, scored the winner in the Women’s FA Cup final and was featured in a LEGO football set. Here are the year’s defining moments, in chronological order—not as a ranked list.
April 2: Kerr reaches 50 WSL goals
Kerr scored Chelsea’s third goal in a 3–0 win at Aston Villa, bringing her WSL total to 50. Chelsea recorded that she became the first non-European player to reach the milestone. PerthNow reported that she reached it in her 62nd league appearance, making her the second-fastest player overall to the mark. Those are distinct records: one describes her nationality relative to the league’s history; the other her pace to 50 goals. Chelsea’s match report and PerthNow’s year-end roundup document the milestone.

May 14: FA Cup final winner against Manchester United
In the Women’s FA Cup final, Kerr met a Pernille Harder cross and scored the decisive goal as Chelsea beat Manchester United. It was Chelsea’s second successive FA Cup title, and the club described Kerr’s strike as her second consecutive match-winning goal in an FA Cup final. Chelsea’s report of the final records the result and goal.
May 30 announcement: Kerr becomes part of LEGO Icons of Play
The LEGO Group announced its Play Unstoppable campaign and the LEGO Icons of Play set, product 40634, featuring Kerr alongside Megan Rapinoe, Yūki Nagasato and Asisat Oshoala. The football set contains 899 pieces and 15 minifigures, including supporters, a coach and a referee; it is a multi-player set, not a standalone Sam Kerr toy. LEGO announced a June 6, 2023 launch and historical launch prices of €99.99, $99.99 and £89.99. Those were launch prices, not current prices. LEGO’s Australian product page now marks the set retired, so availability may depend on location and resale stock. See the LEGO Group announcement and Australian product page.

LEGO reported that 82% of girls and 71% of boys agreed girls can play football and boys can practise ballet; these are figures reported by the campaign, not an independently verified finding here.
September 1: Kerr proposes to Kristie Mewis
Kerr proposed to fellow footballer Kristie Mewis on September 1, 2023. The couple’s engagement became public later: Mewis revealed it in a November 9 interview, and Kerr subsequently shared proposal photographs with the caption “September 1st, 2023.” Keeping those dates separate matters: September 1 was the proposal date, not the date the news was first publicly confirmed. ABC News’ report recounts the announcement.
