Rupert Boneham said he was shocked, hurt and angry that he was not contacted about returning for Survivor 50. Parade reported his comments on July 23, 2025, after an interview with TheThings. The available reporting does not explain why he was not contacted, and it does not establish that he was considered and later cut.
What Rupert Boneham said about Survivor 50
In comments attributed to Boneham by Parade, he said: “I was so shocked and hurt and pissed that they wouldn’t even consider me.” Parade framed his complaint as not being contacted about the season. The report identifies TheThings as the interview source, but the available account does not provide a reason from the show’s producers.
Boneham also said he remained a fan of Survivor and chose former All-Stars castmate Jenna Lewis as his winner pick. Lewis appeared on the official Survivor 50 cast list.
What is known about the Survivor 50 casting process
Parade also relayed host and executive producer Jeff Probst’s account of the casting pool, given in an interview with Entertainment Weekly: “We went from 200 on a list to 100, to 80, to 50.” Probst was reported to have said approximately 200 former players were contacted. That is context about the broader process, not an explanation of Boneham’s absence: it does not establish that he was on the list, contacted, considered, or cut.
