BBC Sport’s only directly attributed estimate in the sources reviewed put Russell Crowe’s net worth at $75 million (£48 million) in 2015. That is a historical estimate, not a verified current valuation. In 2024, BBC Sport reported that Crowe owns a stake in Leeds United, but did not disclose its size or terms. Leeds United’s corporate page says the club is 100% owned by 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC.
What is Russell Crowe’s net worth?
The sourced figure is BBC Sport’s estimate of $75 million (£48 million), published in February 2015. It describes Crowe’s estimated wealth at that time; it is not an audited disclosure or a current, independently verified valuation. The sources available here do not establish a reliable present-day figure.
Does Russell Crowe own part of Leeds United?
Yes, according to BBC Sport’s 30 May 2024 report, which said Crowe and actor Will Ferrell own stakes in Leeds United. The article did not state Crowe’s percentage, the price paid, or the legal vehicle for his holding. The report supports describing him as a reported stakeholder, not as the club’s controlling owner.
Who owns and controls the club?
Leeds United’s official corporate page says Leeds United Football Club Limited is 100% owned by 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC. The page identifies Paraag Marathe as chairman and says he exercises the owner’s voting rights as a director on the Leeds United board. That corporate ownership statement does not specify Crowe’s reported stake or its terms.

Companies House lists Paraag Marathe and John Edward York as active persons with significant influence or control, and Andrea Radrizzani’s control as ceased in September 2023. Those register entries do not establish Crowe’s individual shareholding or its size.

- 25 February 2015: BBC Sport reported that Crowe, a Leeds supporter, would consider buying the club if approached and with fan backing. The report said the club had not received an approach.
- 25 February 2015: Leeds chairman Andrew Umbers said the club was not for sale and that the Cellino family did not wish to sell. He also said the club had received no approaches contrary to press reports that day.
- 9 June 2023: Leeds United announced an agreement between Aser Ventures and 49ers Enterprises for the purchase of the club.
- 30 May 2024: BBC Sport reported Crowe’s stake in a story about Red Bull taking a minority stake in Leeds.
- Ownership page reviewed 8 October 2026: Leeds United’s corporate page identifies 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC as the club’s 100% owner.
Crowe’s 2015 remarks were about a possible purchase, conditional on an approach and fan support. They are separate from the later report that he holds a stake; neither establishes that he bought the club or controls it.
