Rosie O’Donnell asked for prayers for her daughter Chelsea after a Wisconsin court revoked Chelsea’s probation and imposed a prison sentence in October 2025. O’Donnell said the family loved and supported her daughter and expressed compassion for people struggling with addiction.
What Rosie O’Donnell said
In a statement to People reproduced by The Independent, O’Donnell said: “I have compassion for those struggling with addiction — Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”
O’Donnell also wrote in an Instagram caption, as quoted by E! News: “My child chelsea belle—before addiction took over her life, i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future—prayers welcomed.” These are O’Donnell’s descriptions of her family’s experience, not an independent clinical assessment.
Why Chelsea was sentenced
The post followed a Wisconsin court’s decision to revoke Chelsea’s probation and impose a previously stayed prison sentence. A Wisconsin Department of Corrections spokesperson told WTAQ/WLUK that the revocation took effect October 16, 2025, and that Chelsea was being held at Marinette County Jail pending transfer to serve her sentence (WTAQ/WLUK).

What was reported about Chelsea’s later status
On August 27, 2026, Us Weekly reported that O’Donnell had recently visited Chelsea at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and described Chelsea as serving an 18-month sentence.
