The White House used Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 song “Juno” over footage of federal immigration enforcement officers chasing and detaining people. Carpenter objected the next day, and a White House spokeswoman answered with a defense of deportations. The Daily Beast later reported that the original post was deleted.
What was in the White House video?
Reuters reported that the White House shared the video on Monday, December 1, 2025. It paired “Juno” with footage of federal immigration enforcement officers chasing and detaining people. The caption echoed the song’s lyrics: “Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye.” Reuters, republished by Investing.com, and the Associated Press reported on the video and ensuing response.
What did Sabrina Carpenter say?
On Tuesday, December 2, Carpenter replied on X: “this video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.” Her post objected to the use of her music in the video; it did not, by itself, establish whether the song had been licensed or what authorization applied.
How did the White House respond?
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Reuters: “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?” This was Jackson’s characterization, not independently verified information about the people shown in the footage. Reuters’ report quoted her response.

Was the original post deleted?
Yes, according to The Daily Beast, which reported that the White House deleted the original post on December 5, 2025. The outlet said it received no explanation for the deletion. It also reported that a later edited post used a clip from an SNL promotion featuring Carpenter. The outlet’s follow-up does not establish why the original was removed. The Daily Beast’s account describes the deletion and later post.
What is known about permission or legal consequences?
The available reporting documents the public exchange and the later deletion, but does not establish what music-use authorization applied. It also does not report a legal filing or establish that legal action followed. The video’s use of the song and Carpenter’s objection should not be treated, on these reports alone, as proof that the use was unlawful.
