Roger Daltrey’s A Great Night Out solo tour promised a mix of Who rarities, Daltrey solo songs and reimagined covers, alongside stories and banter. The official materials did not confirm an audience Q&A. The announced U.S. dates ran from 23 August through 3 October 2026, so the tour has ended.
What was Roger Daltrey’s new tour?
A Great Night Out was a solo tour by Daltrey, not a tour billed as The Who. The band’s 12 May 2026 announcement described a show bringing together Daltrey’s solo material, reimagined covers and Who songs seldom performed live by either act. It also presented the run as a chance to move beyond backing tracks and explore different soundscapes.
The initial announcement described 20 cities and a schedule from 23 August to 29 September. Official updates later extended the run, adding a 2 October performance at Tilles Center and a 3 October date at Freeman Arts Center. The Who’s initial tour announcement, extra-date notice and special-guests update document the schedule as it developed.
What did the show promise—and was there an audience Q&A?
Stories and banter were part of the advertised format
The Who’s announcement said the 2026 show would build on the acoustic intimacy and storytelling associated with Daltrey’s 2024 solo tour, with more banter and rapport. Mesa Arts Center likewise described its event as a personal show with candid stories and setlist surprises. That supports a conversational, story-led performance, but it does not establish that audience members could ask questions.

A formal Q&A is not confirmed
The official tour announcement and the venue description reviewed do not say that the audience Q&A was part of the show. Without a show-specific source, it would be inaccurate to state that a formal Q&A took place; the available descriptions also cannot rule out that an individual date included audience questions. The Mesa Arts Center event page describes its own presentation, not proof of a Q&A across the tour.
Which musicians backed Daltrey?

What Daltrey said about the tour
In The Who’s 12 May announcement, Daltrey framed the run as a possible final chapter to his solo touring and explained why he wanted to perform with his current nine-piece band:
“Well it’s one more for the road. After finishing The Who’s final tour of the US, it’s time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same. After touring solo with different bands of musicians for the last 17 years, a less grueling life becomes more attractive, I’ll see. With my present line up of nine musicians, I have this opportunity to see your beautiful country and enjoy the hospitality you have shown me over so many years. I’ll be off the backing tracks and always searching for different soundscapes to present the songs. It’s a lot of fun and gives me the chance to have a great night out.”
