Spektor responded that they were “just yelling at a Jew,” said the concert was not the place for that conversation, and continued performing after some attendees left.
Where and when was the show interrupted?
The incident took place at Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Exclaim reported that the interruption came before Spektor performed “Poor Little Rich Boy”; The Independent also identified the venue and city in its full report. Exclaim’s July 28 account and The Independent’s July 30 report place the concert in Oregon.
What did Regina Spektor say?
As transcribed by Exclaim, Spektor told a protester, “You’re just yelling at a Jew.” She then challenged the interruption: “This is not an internet comment section. I know that you are mistaking my show for a YouTube video.”
Spektor said people who wanted to leave could do so, and told the protesters, “I think you should go because this is not the place for that conversation. I’m a real person who came here to play music.” The Independent also quoted her saying the show was “not an internet comment section” and that she had come to play music.

Why did Spektor refer to her family’s history?
Spektor connected the exchange to her family’s experience of leaving a country where Jews were treated as outsiders. Exclaim transcribed her saying: “The only reason I even speak English is because I came here to escape this shit. I only speak English because I came from a country where people were treating Jews as others, and now I’m being othered here, and it sucks.”
What happened after the exchange?
Some attendees left after Spektor said people could go if they did not want to remain. Reporting says she continued the performance. The accounts establish that audience members interrupted the concert and that Spektor responded; they do not establish that every person shouting had the same motive or that a particular organization arranged the protest.
