People en Español reported on April 13, 2007, that Martin sent the message after Christian revealed he was gay.
What Ricky Martin said about Christian coming out
People en Español reported that Martin told the Associated Press: “Life is too short to get caught up in what people might say. I imagine that he must feel free in many ways and I wish him the best, much strength.”
The remark framed Christian’s disclosure as a moment of personal freedom and offered him encouragement in the face of public reaction. The report also said Christian had received support from the public and from friends.
What the 2007 report says
In its April 13, 2007, article, People en Español described Christian as a member of RBD who had revealed he was gay. It reported that Martin was 35 and Christian was 23 at the time. The article identifies him only as “Christian”; it does not provide his full name or further details about the circumstances.

Martin on music and philanthropy
The same report connected Martin’s music with his philanthropic work. He described the relationship as “a spiritual search,” saying that philanthropic work helped him write music and music helped him with his philanthropic work. He also added, “If this is a trend, then I hope more trends like this will pop up.”
People en Español presented those comments alongside its account of Martin’s support for Christian. They offer context about Martin’s view of the connection between his creative work and philanthropy, rather than additional details about Christian’s coming-out announcement.
