Professional boxers have appeared on screen in everything from major dramatic roles to brief cameos. A 2019 Boxing News roundup names ten boxers and a screen example for each; the list is best read as a guide to notable acting appearances, not proof that all ten built lasting acting careers.
Ten professional boxers with screen roles

The scale of the work varies: some boxers played fictional characters in prominent films, while others had supporting parts or comedy appearances. The roundup is an editorial list, not a consistently verified filmography, so it does not support ranking these performers by total credits or career longevity.

Boxer in a film does not always mean actor by career
The examples range from named, fictional roles such as Morrison’s Tommy Gunn, Jones’s Ballard, Bellew’s Ricky Conlan and Tarver’s Mason Dixon to smaller supporting work and Tyson’s recurring comedy visibility. Being cast in a film is a screen credit; by itself, it does not show a sustained acting career. The 2019 roundup supplies selected examples rather than a complete or consistently sourced account of each person’s filmography.

Muhammad Ali: a useful comparison, not one of the ten
Muhammad Ali is often relevant to a discussion of boxers acting on screen, but he is not included in the ten-person Boxing News list. The Television Academy’s biography of Ali says: “He also had small roles playing himself on such scripted programs as Diff’rent Strokes and Cos, and he acted opposite Kris Kristofferson in the 1979 telefilm Freedom Road.” It also notes his starring role as himself in the 1977 feature The Greatest. These appearances show another route from boxing fame to performance: playing oneself in scripted work as well as taking a role in a feature.
Why Chuck Wepner is a different case
Chuck Wepner is sometimes brought up because his 1975 fight with Ali inspired Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky screenplay. That connection is about the source of the story, not evidence that Wepner acted in the film: Biography.com’s account describes his influence on Stallone’s screenplay and does not establish him as a Rocky cast member.
