PEOPLE’s 2024 account lists four legal marriages. The reported year ranges are 1971–1983, 1983–2006, 2006–2009 and 2009–2014. These are year ranges, not exact wedding or divorce dates.

Was Ric Flair legally married to Wendy Barlow?
No. Flair and Barlow held a wedding ceremony in Florida in September 2018, and contemporaneous WWE coverage described them as having “made it official.” However, in a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Flair clarified: “It was just a ceremony,” and “We were never married.” PEOPLE also reported that Barlow confirmed they had never applied for a marriage certificate. The later direct clarification means the ceremony should not be counted as a fifth legal marriage.

Flair’s PEOPLE interview provides his explanation; PEOPLE separately reported Barlow’s confirmation that no certificate was applied for. WWE’s contemporaneous account explains why some accounts characterize the ceremony as a marriage.
