WrestleMania 43 is officially announced for Riyadh in 2027. The claim that retired legends are being eyed for the show is less certain: a September 2025 report attributed to Dave Meltzer says he presumed WWE would contact The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. It does not establish that anyone has been contacted, agreed to appear or been booked for a match.
What is confirmed about WrestleMania 43?
WWE and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority announced that WrestleMania 43 will take place in Riyadh in 2027. WWE described it as the first WrestleMania held outside North America. WWE’s September 1, 2026 Crown Jewel announcement again identifies Riyadh as the host city for WrestleMania 43 in 2027 (WWE Corporate; WWE Arabic).
Those announcements confirm the event’s announced location and year. They do not announce outreach to performers or a card for the show.
Which legends could be approached?
In a September 2025 account of Dave Meltzer’s comments on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bleacher Report named four possible targets: The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. The wording matters: Meltzer reportedly presumed they might be contacted. This is speculation about possible outreach, not confirmation that WWE or Saudi officials approached any of them (Bleacher Report).

- The Rock: A legacy star and possible special attraction, but the cited coverage notes that he is not technically retired.
- “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels: Named in the reported speculation; the sources do not confirm contact, agreement or a planned appearance.
“Retired legends” is therefore a loose headline shorthand, not an exact description of every person on the list or a verified WWE shortlist.
Are The Rock, Stone Cold, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels wrestling in Saudi Arabia?
There is no confirmed answer that any of them will wrestle at WrestleMania 43. The available reporting does not establish whether a possible approach would be for an in-ring match, a non-wrestling appearance or no appearance at all.

Wrestling Inc. reported that Meltzer had not heard the suggested Undertaker-versus-Michaels or Austin-versus-Rock matches being discussed within WWE creative at that point. Those pairings should be treated as fan speculation, not match plans (Wrestling Inc.).

- Confirmed: WrestleMania 43 is announced for Riyadh in 2027.
- Reported speculation: Meltzer reportedly presumed WWE would contact the four named stars.
- Not confirmed: Any actual contact, acceptance, appearance, match or specific creative plan.
The distinction is important because event announcements and reported predictions are different kinds of evidence. The 2025 legend speculation does not become a booking confirmation simply because the event itself is official.
