Rian Johnson says it is “very early days” for a possible continuation of Poker Face. After Peacock chose not to renew the series, Johnson and producer MRC reportedly began shopping a new version that could feature Peter Dinklage in the lead role instead of Natasha Lyonne. That is a reported proposal—not a confirmed third-season order or finalized casting.
What Rian Johnson said about the recasting
In a statement reproduced by IMDb from Collider reporting, Johnson said: “Look, it’s very early days. We’re gonna see if we can take it out and get it going.” [c001]
His wording describes an effort to find a home for a project, not an announcement that a new season has been approved. Reports tied the potential continuation to a change in lead: Peter Dinklage was proposed as a replacement for Natasha Lyonne, but the available coverage does not establish that he accepted the role or that casting was finalized. What happened to Poker Face on Peacock?
Peacock reportedly chose not to renew Poker Face for a third season. A possible continuation elsewhere would therefore be distinct from a Peacock Season 3 order. [c002] [c003] [c004]

Where the proposed continuation stands
In November 2025, trade and news coverage reported that Johnson and MRC were shopping a new iteration, with Dinklage potentially taking over the lead role if the project found a buyer. TheWrap separately reported conversations about HBO potentially picking it up; those conversations do not establish that HBO acquired the project or ordered a series. [c002] [c003] [c005]
A January 2026 Deadline report described continued interest in a reset. The available reporting does not establish that a platform or formal series order followed, so the proposed continuation’s outcome remains unresolved. [c006]
