In a June 5, 2015 article, Bravo identified Thomson as Sean John’s founding design director and quoted her reflecting on her former boss. She said, “Puff was definitely the toughest boss,” then added that he “showed me what I was made of.” Bravo’s account of Thomson’s remarks presents the challenge as something she viewed as professionally formative.

Bravo also quoted Thomson saying, “If it weren’t for Puffy pushing me to my limits, I guess I wouldn’t know where they were,” and, “I don’t really have any limits. Puffy showed me that there are no barriers.” These comments describe a demanding boss in Thomson’s own positive framing. They do not specify her hours, duties, pay, treatment, or workplace safety.
Does the available evidence establish “brutal working conditions”?
No. The phrase appears in the headline of a later story, not in any substantiated description of specific conditions in the available material. The 2015 Bravo article supports saying that Thomson called Combs a tough boss and credited him with pushing her.
