Randy Orton has said that his shoulders were unusually loose and that, after dislocations, he needed surgery to tighten them. That is his retrospective account—not a current medical diagnosis. A separate WWE injury report described a specific shoulder dislocation and MRI findings in 2015; it does not establish his health today.
What Orton said about his hypermobile shoulders
In a 2005 interview, Orton recounted that after dislocating his other shoulder, he learned he had “hypermobile shoulders.” He described them as loose from birth and said they “basically had to get tightened up.” This is an interview-reported account of what he was told and experienced, not a published medical record or an independent diagnosis. In a 2011 CBS Minnesota Q&A, Orton said he had undergone “major surgeries on both shoulders” and called his shoulders the hardest injuries from which to return. The interview does not identify the procedures or give their dates. [c003]
What happened in the 2015 shoulder injury
A November 2, 2015 WWE injury update quoted WWE physician Dr. Steve Daquino describing a dislocated shoulder and chronic shoulder problems. Daquino said a recent MRI showed a Bankart lesion, stretched ligaments and a partially torn rotator cuff. [c002]

Daquino said surgery might be required and that recovery would take four to six months if Orton had it. That was the physician’s estimate in 2015, conditional on surgery—not a general recovery timetable or a statement about Orton’s present condition. The report does not establish that hypermobility caused those particular MRI findings.

What the accounts do—and do not—establish
- Orton publicly described his shoulders as hypermobile and loose, and said he had dislocations and surgeries to tighten them.
- The 2015 WWE report gives a physician’s account of one injury episode, including MRI findings.
- These accounts do not establish that hypermobility caused every shoulder injury, nor do they reveal Orton’s current shoulder status.
