What is Queen Camilla’s Royal Ascot heirloom?
It is the Rothschild Diamond Watch brooch, not a tiara. The two-part jewel is described as a diamond bow above a suspended floral pendant. Bailey Bujnosek’s March 18, 2026, AOL UK account reports that Camilla wore it at Royal Ascot in June 2025.
Why was it described as unseen since 1936?
The same report says the brooch had not appeared publicly since Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, wore it during a visit to British Industries House on July 3, 1936. That reported gap is the basis for the “since 1936” description; it does not establish that the jewel was literally hidden in a vault.
How did the brooch enter the royal collection?
The reported provenance is that Alice Charlotte von Rothschild gave the brooch to Queen Mary, then Duchess of York, as a wedding gift in 1893. Is the $108,000 value confirmed?
No. The figure is an estimate attributed to UK jeweler Steven Stone and reported by AOL in 2026: approximately £80,000, rendered as about $108,000. It is not a documented sale price, an official royal appraisal, or a verified insurance valuation. Currency conversions and estimates can change.
Does the brooch contain a working watch?
That is unconfirmed. The reason for the “Watch” name has not been established in the reporting. A winding-crown-like feature in a period illustration is offered as a possibility, not proof that the jewel contains a functioning timepiece.
