Poison did not tour in 2026 for the 40th anniversary of its 1986 debut, Look What the Cat Dragged In. Drummer Rikki Rockett blamed a breakdown over money, saying Bret Michaels wanted “$6 to every one of our dollars.” Michaels disputed that account: he said the pay split was never negotiated and that the tour had already been moved to 2027 for scheduling and planning. The band’s members later voiced hope for a 2027 celebration, but no dates or completed agreement have been confirmed in the reports available.
What happened to Poison’s 40th-anniversary tour?
The proposal was for a 2026 tour marking 40 years since Poison released Look What the Cat Dragged In in 1986. In September 2024, Michaels told fans the band was considering 40 limited dates, while stressing that the idea was not confirmed and would require coordination and planning. Rolling Stone Australia’s January 20, 2026 report described that proposal and noted that the private financial terms were not known.
The 2026 tour did not happen. The disagreement is over why: Rockett says money was the obstacle; Michaels says the tour had been shifted to 2027 before the parties reached a discussion about splitting the money.
What Rikki Rockett says about the money
In comments reported January 18, 2026, by Blabbermouth.net from his interview with Page Six, Rockett said he, guitarist C.C. DeVille and bassist Bobby Dall were ready to tour. He described the proposed economics as “$6 to every one of our dollars” and said, “We had a great offer [for a tour this year], I thought. But we left the table.”

That ratio is Rockett’s characterization, not a verified contract term. The public reports do not include an offer document or independently establish the exact proposed split. Blabbermouth.net’s account of Rockett’s comments reports his allegation; it does not prove that Michaels formally demanded a six-to-one division.
How Bret Michaels answers the allegation
In an interview with 99.1 WPLR’s Chaz & AJ In The Morning, reported by Blabbermouth.net on January 29, 2026, Michaels said, “It never happened. We never got to that part of negotiations.” He said the discussions had involved solo bookings, staging and logistics, and that the tour had been pushed to 2027 the previous summer because the band members needed to answer 2026 booking questions.

Michaels also said a Poison agreement should involve all four founding members: “It should be a four-way discussion. That’s what POISON’s meant to be.” His account differs from Rockett’s on whether finances had become the reason the proposed tour did not proceed. Blabbermouth.net’s report of the WPLR interview transcribes his explanation.
Which explanation is confirmed?
The public accounts do not settle the private negotiations. Rockett attributed the impasse to Michaels wanting a much larger share; Michaels said the conversation never reached a pay split and described scheduling and planning as the reason for postponing the tour. The sources provide neither a signed deal nor documentation that would independently verify either account of the negotiations.

It is therefore accurate to say Rockett alleged an unequal financial proposal and Michaels denied that a split was negotiated. It is not established that Michaels formally demanded six times as much money, or that the alleged ratio was the definitive cause of the tour’s postponement.

A later update offered a note of optimism, not a tour announcement. In a January 30, 2026 report, Rockett said he and Michaels had exchanged positive texts and hoped to do something in 2027. He also acknowledged, “But Bret’s right. We didn’t sit down at a negotiating table, really. It never did get that far.” Michaels described the possibility as “hopefully ‘40 Plus One’.”
