Rebel Moon 3 has no confirmed Netflix greenlight, production start or release date. Zack Snyder’s latest reported remarks are encouraging but conditional: he suggested that interest in the director’s cuts could build support for another film.

At TIFF, Snyder told The Direct that he did not know whether a third film would happen soon. He said the extended director’s cuts might become more popular and help create a “groundswell” for continuing the story: “then there’s a little bit more groundswell about maybe making another one.”

The distinction matters because having more story ideas is not the same as having a commissioned film. Snyder told Netflix Tudum that his original pitch was to make two films back-to-back: “Let’s make just two movies back-to-back because it’s too epic to do in one film.” Earlier plans and ambitions for additional stories likewise do not amount to a Netflix order.

In July 2025, Snyder said he was working on an LAPD SWAT film for Netflix and taking a break from the Rebel Moon universe after making the first two films back-to-back. He said he would reassess after finishing that project. His later TIFF comments are the fresher update, but neither statement supplies a schedule for a third film. Netflix Tudum lists both films and their director’s cuts as streaming on Netflix; availability can vary by region. The first film had a limited US theatrical release in December 2023 and began streaming that month. Part Two: The Scargiver arrived on Netflix on April 19, 2024. Both R-rated director’s cuts were released on August 2, 2024.
