The allegations are contested, and the available reporting does not establish a final outcome in either producer case.
What are the two producer cases about?
The cases have different plaintiffs, courts and central issues. One was brought by three producers in California; the other by the production company AI Film Production Limited in Australia.

| Los Angeles Superior Court | Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden | Defamation claims concerning Wilson’s 2024 statements | The producers’ sanctions motion was reported September 30, with a hearing scheduled for October 22, 2026; no hearing outcome is established in the available reporting. |
| Supreme Court of New South Wales | AI Film Production Limited | Alleged interference with distribution, defamation, and contractual and consumer-law breaches | A hearing was reported September 21, 2026; no final outcome is established in the available reporting. |
What do the Los Angeles producers allege?
Ghost, Cameron and Holden’s suit concerns Wilson’s 2024 Instagram accusations, which included allegations of embezzlement and inappropriate conduct. The producers say her statements accused them of misconduct and of trying to block the film’s release. Those are the plaintiffs’ claims, not findings that the accusations were true or false.
In September 2026, the producers’ lawyers filed a motion seeking sanctions. They alleged false testimony and problems with evidence, and sought remedies that could include financial, evidentiary or terminating sanctions. A sanctions motion is a request to the court; the allegations in it are not a judicial finding. The producers’ filing said, “Plaintiffs do not bring this motion lightly.”

Wilson’s attorney, Allyson Katherine Thompson, responded that the motion was “yet another attempt to malign Ms. Wilson, using court filings to suggest that what is said in those motions is fact,” according to MyNewsLA’s September 30, 2026 report. Thompson said a response was being prepared. The hearing was scheduled for October 22, after the reporting date covered here.
What does AI Film Production Limited allege in Australia?
AI Film Production Limited’s New South Wales Supreme Court action alleges that Wilson and her company, Camp Sugar, interfered with distribution efforts, threatened an injunction against an Australian release, and made defamatory statements. The company claims the conduct caused financial and reputational harm and breached contractual and consumer-law obligations.
Rank #2
Earlier reporting said AI Film also alleged Wilson sought to reduce the production’s value and pressure rights holders to sell their interest to Camp Sugar. These remain allegations by the company, not established findings.
How do Wilson and Camp Sugar respond?
Wilson and Camp Sugar deny that they sabotaged the film’s release and filed a cross-claim accusing the producers of a “troubling pattern of illicit egregious behaviours, including theft, bullying and sexual misconduct.” Wilson also alleges that Ghost broke verbal agreements concerning writing credits and a soundtrack-album deal, and that Cameron and Holden embezzled A$900,000 from a joint-venture company. The embezzlement figure is Wilson’s allegation, reported by the Associated Press and The Guardian; it is not an independently established loss or court finding.

Reporting by The Guardian and the Associated Press on September 21 described testimony and documents concerning production fees and financing, including a proposed reduction in Wilson’s acting and directing fee to $1 million and a dispute over increased fees and costs. The Guardian reported that producer Vince Holden testified AI Film advanced funds to keep production on schedule and that there was no final agreement on fee levels. This reported business disagreement does not resolve the parties’ competing claims.
Is the actor Charlotte MacInnes’s case part of these lawsuits?
No. The Deb lead actor Charlotte MacInnes brought a separate defamation suit against Wilson over social-media posts that MacInnes said suggested she had withdrawn a sexual-harassment complaint against producer Ghost to gain career benefits. In July 2026, a judge ruled that none of Wilson’s posts was defamatory, according to the Associated Press. That ruling addressed MacInnes’s case only; it did not decide either producer action.

Was The Deb released?
Yes. The musical comedy was eventually released in April 2026. The Associated Press reported that its release had been shelved in 2024 after the fallout with co-producers; ABC reported that the release shifted from January to April 2026. The earlier delay did not mean the film remained unreleased, and the later release does not itself settle the legal disputes.
