Later reporting placed Linn’s proposal on Christmas Eve 2024, so the proposal came months before the couple announced their engagement publicly. As of an August 2026 update, they had not set a wedding date.
When did Reba McEntire and Rex Linn get engaged?
The couple confirmed their engagement publicly on the 2025 Emmy Awards red carpet on September 14, 2025. An E! News correspondent referred to Linn as McEntire’s fiancé; McEntire replied, “We’re having a blast on Happy’s Place and so glad to be here tonight.” E! News reported the exchange that night, while PEOPLE described the couple as engaged after five years of dating.
The five years refers to how long they had been dating by the time of that announcement. It is not the length of their engagement.
When did Rex Linn propose?
McEntire later said the proposal happened on Christmas Eve 2024, several months before the Emmy announcement. In a February 2026 account, she described Linn as “very romantic” and said, “It was a total surprise.” She also said they had expected to announce the news after returning to Los Angeles in January, but the fires made that timing feel inappropriate. iHeart reported her account in February 2026.
