What Osbourne says in the speech
Osbourne keeps his acceptance remarks brief and centered on gratitude. He thanks those who voted for his solo work and his fans, recalls the musicians he played with, and singles out guitarist Randy Rhoads. He also thanks his wife, Sharon, and his grandchildren before handing the program back to Jack Black.

This 2024 honor is for Osbourne as a solo performer, not Black Sabbath’s earlier induction. The Hall places his solo work in the context of heavy metal’s development, describing him as an artist who “co-pioneered and repeatedly reshaped heavy metal.”

- OSBOURNE OZZY BLIZZARD OF OZZ
The Hall’s profile points to the breadth of his solo catalog, including “Crazy Train” from Blizzard of Ozz (1980) and “Mama, I’m Coming Home” from No More Tears (1991). Osbourne announced the honor on April 22, 2024, writing on his official site: “Thank You Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Voters & Fans for the induction. My solo career, has been a much larger part of my overall music career as a whole, so this feels more special. Not bad for a guy who was fired from his last band.”
