Spoiler note: This review discusses the episode’s premise and critical response, but avoids unverified details about the character implied by the original headline. The official episode synopsis does not identify that character or establish the circumstances behind the title.
“Dominique,” the fourth episode of Reacher Season 3, brings Reacher back together with Duffy and Villanueva and has him reveal painful history involving Xavier Quinn. That makes the episode a turning point for Reacher’s personal story, as well as a pause in the season’s present-day investigation.

What happens in “Dominique”?
Prime Video’s synopsis says Reacher reunites with Duffy and Villanueva and “finally shares the painful details” of his history with Quinn. It places the episode’s focus on the consequences of Reacher’s past, rather than offering a scene-by-scene account of what unfolds.
The episode sits within a season in which Reacher goes undercover to investigate a smuggling ring threatening a DEA informant. Season 3 adapts Lee Child’s novel Persuader, but the available episode description does not establish the specific ways “Dominique” changes or follows the book.

Does the flashback material work?
The season’s parallel between Reacher’s history and the present-day case gives “Dominique” a chance to connect its action plot to a more personal source of tension. Vulture critic Chris Klimek praised the episode’s handling of that structure, writing that it gets “most of that backstory done in a 50-minute hour” and calling it “the season’s most rewarding to date.” That is Klimek’s individual assessment, not a verdict shared by all viewers.
CBR critic Joshua M. Patton also responded favorably to the personal stakes, writing: “Each season of the show involved a personal connection in the cases Reacher worked, and this one may be the most tragic yet.” His comment supports reading the Quinn history as central to the episode’s emotional impact, though it does not establish details about the character named in the episode title.

What does the title “Dominique” refer to?
The official synopsis and the episode listings identify the episode as “Dominique,” but do not explain the title or name the fallen character suggested by the original headline. They also do not establish that character’s death, relationship to Reacher, or potential as a continuing sidekick. Without reliable scene-level confirmation, those particulars should not be treated as fact in a review.
A Reddit viewer described being “shocked and saddened” and praised Mariah Robinson for making them “love her character in just half an episode.” That is one viewer’s reaction, not representative audience research; it gives a sense of the emotional response the episode prompted without resolving the title’s meaning.

Critical response
Rotten Tomatoes lists three critic reviews for the episode at the time reflected in its listing. Klimek of New York Magazine/Vulture rated it 4/5, while Patton of CBR rated it 9/10. Both published favorable comments, but three listed reviews are too small a sample to support a claim of broad critical consensus, and critic ratings do not predict every viewer’s response.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How “Dominique” fits the Persuader adaptation
The established connection is that Season 3 adapts Persuader, Lee Child’s seventh Jack Reacher novel. The available sources do not document scene-by-scene differences between the episode and the book, so claims about particular changes—or about how faithfully the episode handles a specific character—would require checking the episode against the novel.
Rank #4
For viewers who want to follow the source story, Persuader is the relevant book. Prime Video is the streaming destination named in the listings; availability and purchase options can vary by territory and over time.
