Reba McEntire’s diamond ring at a December 2023 red carpet appearance was not evidence that she was engaged. She said she had found the ring and wore it to get people talking. McEntire and Rex Linn later confirmed their engagement at the 2025 Emmy Awards, so the two appearances should not be confused.
What McEntire said about the ring in 2023
On December 4, 2023, McEntire wore a sparkling ring on the red carpet before The Voice’s first live taping. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight published the next day, she told reporter Cassie DiLaura, “I just found it,” and said she had put it on to stir speculation.
McEntire also described the joke to brand manager Leslie Matthews Duggar: “Imma put something over here, just let everybody talk about it.” When DiLaura asked whether she was still the only one planning a wedding, McEntire replied, “Yes, you are.” Her answers made clear that the ring was a playful talking point, not an engagement announcement. When McEntire and Rex Linn confirmed their engagement
McEntire and actor Rex Linn confirmed they were engaged at the 2025 Emmy Awards. USA TODAY reported that a representative confirmed the news after the couple appeared at the ceremony on September 14, 2025. Why the two rings should not be conflated
Coverage of the 2025 Emmys described McEntire wearing a black-diamond eternity band. Good Housekeeping noted that she did not explicitly identify that band as her engagement ring. The 2023 ring, meanwhile, was not identified by brand, stone specifications, or model.
