“City In Chaos,” the ninth episode of Re:Zero −Starting Life in Another World− Season 3, shifts the story into a coordinated counterattack across Priestella. Subaru and Reinhard set out to rescue Emilia from Regulus, while their allies take on the other Sin Archbishops and Otto pursues the Book of Wisdom. It is a restart in the season’s structure, not the beginning of a new season.
What happens in Re:Zero Season 3, Episode 9?
Prime Video lists the episode as “City In Chaos.” Its synopsis sets the central objective: Subaru and Reinhard confront Regulus, the Sin Archbishop of Greed, to rescue Emilia. The episode broadens that rescue mission into a citywide operation, as the remaining allies split across Priestella to face the other Archbishops.
Muse Asia’s verified preview describes the simultaneous effort to retake the four control towers and adds a parallel objective: Otto goes alone to retrieve the Book of Wisdom, where he encounters Lye. Together, these goals give the counterattack several connected fronts rather than one single duel.
Why does Episode 9 feel like a restart?
The season’s official broadcast schedule distinguishes an initial Attack Arc from a later Counterattack Arc. Episode 9 marks the shift into that counterattack phase: the story moves from the first arc’s crisis and capture setup toward an organized attempt to reclaim Priestella. It does not begin a new season; it changes the season’s immediate shape and priorities.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That structural change is what makes the episode tantalizing. The rescue of Emilia remains the emotional center, but the simultaneous fights and Otto’s separate mission widen the stakes. The episode sets multiple objectives in motion, creating anticipation about how the fronts will affect one another and whether the groups can make progress at the same time.

As a season pivot, “City In Chaos” works by opening several lines of action at once. The rescue mission provides a clear focal point, while the tower battles and Otto’s search give the counterattack breadth. The episode’s main source of suspense is not simply who wins an individual fight, but how these separate efforts can succeed—or be disrupted—while Priestella remains in turmoil.
