The first trailer for MAPPA’s Ranma 1/2 remake was announced on July 17, 2024, alongside its original Japanese broadcast date: October 5, 2024. That premiere has passed. As of October 8, 2026, the official schedule lists season three beginning on Nippon TV on October 3, 2026, with Netflix streaming after the broadcast.
What the first trailer announcement revealed
The official anime site announced the remake’s first promotional video (PV) and key visual on July 17, 2024. It said the PV showed footage from the new adaptation and introduced character voices. The announcement and video are available on the official anime site.
The remake is based on Rumiko Takahashi’s manga, published by Shogakukan’s Shonen Sunday Comics. MAPPA produces the series, with Konosuke Uda directing. Netflix lists Kimiko Ueno for series composition and Hiromi Taniguchi as character designer.
When did the Ranma 1/2 remake come out?
The first season’s Japanese broadcast began October 5, 2024, at 24:55—1:00 a.m. on October 6 by ordinary clock notation—on Nippon TV. The official announcement described a nationwide rollout across the Nippon TV network and Netflix streaming immediately after broadcast.

Netflix separately announced a worldwide premiere on October 5, 2024, in Pacific Time, with new episodes weekly. These descriptions refer to different time contexts and distribution: the Japanese network schedule used a late-night broadcast time, while Netflix stated its global streaming date in PT. Netflix availability can vary by territory.
What is the remake about?
Martial artist Ranma Saotome changes into a girl when splashed with cold water and returns to a boy with hot water. Ranma and Akane Tendo are betrothed by their parents. The series reworks Takahashi’s manga premise; the official sources cited here do not establish how much of the manga the remake will adapt.

The original 2024 premiere is not the current season schedule. The official broadcast and streaming schedule lists season three beginning on Nippon TV on October 3, 2026, at 24:55 on Saturdays, with Netflix streaming after the broadcast. Netflix’s June 2026 update described season three as a worldwide Netflix title and said a new trailer had been revealed ahead of its October premiere. Check Netflix in your territory for local availability and timing.
