“Atomic City,” identified in a CBR review as CSI: Vegas season 3, episode 6, opens with slasher-film imagery but is less assured in its early storytelling. Reviewer Brittany Frederick calls it one of the series’ weirder episodes and says it gets stronger once it moves past jump scares and clunky exposition and returns to crime drama.
What happens in “Atomic City”?
The opening sets a deliberately ominous tone: in heavy rain, lightning reveals a hooded figure wearing a gas mask. A nuclear committee member is killed soon afterward. The available description establishes that setup, but not enough of the full plot to support a detailed recap.

Why is the episode creepy?
The gas-mask figure, storm and sudden flashes of lightning give the opening a horror-film feel. Frederick describes the image as “a visual straight out of a slasher film” and calls the episode “one of the weirder episodes in the show’s run.” The creepiness, in this assessment, comes from the episode’s unsettling imagery and unusual atmosphere.
Why does it feel awkward?
The review’s reservation is about execution rather than the premise. Frederick says the episode improves as it gets past “jump scares and clunky exposition” and returns to what she calls “a pure crime drama.” That contrast suggests an uneven opening: horror-style shocks and explanatory dialogue initially interrupt the procedural mode the episode later settles into.

Does “Atomic City” improve as it goes along?
According to Frederick, yes. Her central judgment is that the hour gets better once the early devices give way to crime-story momentum. The review therefore presents the episode as a mixed experience rather than a sustained horror experiment: its strange opening may catch a viewer’s attention, but the stronger stretch is the one that leans into the investigation.
