Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is Quentin Tarantino’s unified, unrated presentation of Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Volume 2. It runs for more than four hours, but it is not simply the two theatrical releases played back-to-back: it changes the timing of a major reveal and includes other edits and additions. Calling it “lost” is shorthand. A version was screened in limited settings years earlier, while a later release brought the unified film to a wider audience.
What is The Whole Bloody Affair?
Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Uma Thurman as the Bride, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair joins the two Kill Bill volumes into one feature. Lionsgate Limited describes its collector’s-edition release as a single unrated epic. The unified cut preserves the story of the Bride’s campaign of revenge, but presents it as one continuous film rather than two separately released volumes.

The “lost version” label needs qualification. The Guardian reports that an integrated version had largely been assembled by 2006 and screened at Cannes and at Tarantino-owned Los Angeles theaters, but did not then receive a wide theatrical or home-video release. The later wide release was recorded for December 5, 2025, by Rotten Tomatoes. It was therefore not wholly unseen; its limited availability is what made the cut seem lost to many viewers.
How long is the combined cut?
There is no single runtime that every listing gives. The figures below come from different listings and presentations, so they should not be treated as interchangeable measurements of one screening experience.
#1 Best Overall
- A female assassin attacked on her wedding day and left for dead by her group leader/ex-lover, Bill, wakes up four years later from a coma and seeks revenge against him and his team of murderous assassins.
| Listing | Runtime | What the listing establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Lionsgate Limited, 2026 | 253 minutes | Runtime listed for the disc edition. |
| Apple TV, 2025 | 4 hours 35 minutes | Runtime in the Apple TV listing. |
| AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, 2025 | 275 minutes | The listed 70mm presentation includes a 15-minute intermission. |
| Rotten Tomatoes, 2025 | 4 hours 41 minutes | Runtime in the title listing. |
The AFI figure explicitly counts an intermission; the other sources describe their own listing or edition. The difference between 253 minutes and the longer platform and theatrical listings is not explained by the listings cited here, so it is safer to name the source than to declare one figure definitive.
What changes compared with watching the two volumes?
The daughter reveal arrives later
The most consequential structural change is the timing of the revelation that the Bride’s daughter survived. At the end of Volume 1, Bill tells the audience the child is alive, creating a cliffhanger before the next volume. The Whole Bloody Affair removes that audience-facing announcement. The Bride and viewers learn the truth together later in the story.
Rank #2
- After crossing two names off her kill list, The Bride returns with a plan of revenge targeting Budd (Michael Madsen) and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), the only survivors of the team of thugs who betrayed her four years ago. Everything leads to her ultimate confrontation with Bill (David Carradine), The Bride's former mentor and the one who ordered her assassination!
That does not create a new plot twist; it changes who knows the information and when. As an interpretation of the reported edit, the unified version makes the discovery more closely align with the Bride’s experience, rather than asking viewers to wait while she catches up with what they already know.
Other edits and additions
The Guardian reports several further differences: the unified cut removes the brief black-and-white introduction to Volume 2, expands the animated account of O-Ren Ishii’s past, and presents an expanded section of the House of Blue Leaves fight in full color. These changes mean the combined feature is more than a simple splice of the two theatrical releases.
Rank #3
- Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR unites Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 into a single, unrated epic—complete with a new anime sequence.
Is “Yuki’s Revenge” part of the movie?
No. “Yuki’s Revenge” is a separate post-credit bonus chapter made for Fortnite, not a scene within the feature or part of its canonical cut. The Guardian distinguishes it from the film itself. If you encounter it after the credits, treat it as an extra rather than as another chapter in The Whole Bloody Affair.
Why did Kill Bill originally come out in two parts?
The Guardian reports that the production approached four hours and that a producer suggested dividing the material. The two-volume release gave audiences the story in separate installments, ending the first with the daughter-survival cliffhanger. Tarantino later reunited the material, but the earlier integrated version had a restricted exhibition history; the 2025 wide release made a revised unified presentation more broadly accessible.
Rank #4
- After crossing two names off her kill list, The Bride returns with a plan of revenge targeting Budd (Michael Madsen) and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), the only survivors of the team of thugs who betrayed her four years ago. Everything leads to her ultimate confrontation with Bill (David Carradine), The Bride's former mentor and the one who ordered her assassination!
Where can you watch or buy the unified cut?
Availability depends on territory and retailer. Apple TV has a title listing, and Lionsgate Limited lists a Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair 4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital Copy Collector’s Edition with a July 28, 2026 release date. The official edition page lists a 40-page booklet, collectible cards, posters and a 70mm film still among its extras. Check the listing and local retailer for current availability.
The format restrictions matter before buying: Lionsgate Limited says the 4K discs are all-region, the Blu-ray discs are Region A, and the digital codes are US-only. Those limitations apply to the listed collector’s edition; verify compatibility and digital-code eligibility for your location before purchase.

Which version should you choose?
| Choose | Best fit |
|---|---|
| The Whole Bloody Affair | You want one continuous feature, the later shared discovery of the daughter’s survival, and the reported added or altered sequences. |
| Volume 1 and Volume 2 separately | You want the original divided-release structure, including the first volume’s cliffhanger announcement. |
Neither format changes the central story of the Bride’s revenge, but the unified cut changes its pacing and suspense. The main reason to seek it out is not a newly invented ending; it is the way the combined film controls the audience’s knowledge of the daughter’s survival while incorporating other reported edits.
