Internships, songwriting sessions and label-management work showed her how the music business operated; performing and writing under her own name became the next step.
Her first steps in music were behind the scenes
Paopao’s path began with internships, not a public launch as a performer. In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone en Español, she said her first internship was at the Miami studio of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. She described the work as nearly secretarial, but it gave her a view of the industry from inside a working studio.
She later interned at a music publisher that had a studio, where she learned how professional songwriting sessions operated. Four months after graduating from college, she got a job managing a record label associated in the interview with Sech, Dalex and The Avengers. Those roles exposed her to different parts of the business before she made her own work as a performer the focus.
She considered industry careers while hiding her artistic ambition
Paopao told Rolling Stone en Español that she considered working in A&R or songwriting, while concealing the ambition she most wanted to pursue. She recalled feeling depressed during that period and said her mother asked why she was not already an artist. The interview presents that question as a prompt to face a desire she had been holding back, not as a precise date marking when her performing career began.

Her experience also fits the account in a 2022 Univision profile, which described her as having spent years behind the scenes before pursuing her dream of performing. The arc is not a simple switch from one job to another: the internships and label work gave her exposure to the process of making and releasing music, while her own artistic direction remained something she was still working out.
Storytelling became central to her songwriting
In a 2023 Primera Hora interview, paopao described music as a canvas for experiences from life. The profile characterized her songs as narratives, particularly about the emotional ups and downs of love, and reported that she wanted to evoke feeling rather than make commercial success the primary creative motive. That is an account of how she described her intentions, not a claim that every song in her catalog follows one formula.

Her career is still an unfolding process
In its May 2025 Future of Music profile, Rolling Stone en Español said paopao had been living her greatest dream—being an artist—for nearly three years. That is the profile’s dated description, not a formally documented start date for her career. The piece also portrays her as continuing to experiment and discover who she is as an artist, rather than treating the transition as a finished transformation.
