Why did Paris Hilton wear a prosthetic pregnancy belly?
Hilton described the one-day experiment in a bonus chapter of her memoir. As quoted in Romper’s coverage, she wrote: “I wanted to know what it felt like to be pregnant, so I bought a prosthetic stomach and wore it around the house for the day.” She added: “I know that sounds crazy, but I wanted it to feel real — even in just this small way.”
Her account describes an attempt at a small physical approximation of pregnancy, not a claim that she was pregnant. The reports do not identify the prosthetic’s brand, model, or seller, so there is no specific product to recommend or evidence that a retail belly reproduces the experience of pregnancy.
Were the surrogates carrying the children at the same time?
Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, welcomed their son Phoenix in January 2023 and their daughter London in November 2023. Coverage of the memoir reports that two separate surrogates carried the children; it does not establish that their pregnancies overlapped. Hilton said she had hoped for a boy and a girl close together in age.

What did Hilton say about the pregnancies?
Hilton also described feeling anxious while the surrogates were pregnant. In an account reproduced by The Independent, she wrote: “I was afraid to breathe. It was like keeping your eye on two little baby birds in a nest — so fragile, so precious, and completely out of our hands.” Her words convey how she experienced the uncertainty and distance of waiting; they are her personal account, not a clinical assessment.
How has Hilton explained her decision to use surrogacy?
Hilton has said that childbirth and medical procedures frightened her, and has linked those fears to trauma she says she experienced as a teenager. In a February 2023 interview reported by Glamour, she said: “Childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world.” A TIME first-person excerpt from her memoir also recounts IVF injections and says Phoenix was born via surrogacy after two years. These are Hilton’s stated reasons and experiences, rather than an independently established medical explanation.
